Optional Google Analytics
If you accept analytics, we use Google Analytics to understand visits, popular pages, and where visitors come from. Google receives page views, browser and device information, and technical connection information; it uses cookies to recognize visits. Advertising features are off.
With your consent, we also count selected public clicks: opening a YouTube player, requesting the next video, visiting an organization website, opening our shelter checklist, and following a newsletter invitation. These counts identify only the type of action and broad website section. They do not include the selected video, creator, shelter, link address, search details or local viewing history, and do not prove playback, a download or a subscription. Action counts are excluded on search and personal-context views. Newsletter forms, confirmation pages and checklist print/download views are not measured.
When you arrive through one of our tagged social links, we also send approved public labels for the social platform, campaign and link placement. For example, this can distinguish an Instagram bio link from a particular Story link. We do not send arbitrary link labels or add separate campaign storage in your browser. A shared bio link cannot tell us which post led you to visit.
We send page addresses without query strings or fragments, and referring websites without search details. Video search terms, shelter ZIP searches, form messages, email addresses, and your local watched-video history are not sent to Google Analytics. Our testing site, administration pages, shelter feedback form and Rainbow Bridge pet request form are excluded.
Analytics stays off until you accept. Your choice is stored in this browser for up to 180 days. Declining stops future measurement and removes this site’s Analytics cookies; previously collected data is not removed by changing the preference. This choice controls our optional Analytics, while embedded video platforms have their own privacy practices described below.
Read Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Visiting the website
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical request information to deliver and protect the website. This can include your IP address, browser information, requested page, and request time. Operational logs may contain this information. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
To help us investigate Rainbow Bridge failures, the meadow can send a fixed failure category to our website, and the request service records fixed operational failure categories. These application diagnostic reports do not include form contents, pet identifiers, page locations or error stacks; hosting technical information is handled as described above.
Rainbow Bridge pet requests
The pet request form asks for your pet’s name, type of animal and a reply email address. Your own name and a message are optional. These details are sent through Cloudflare to our inbox so we can review your request and reply personally. Requests are not saved in the website’s content database; the message remains in our email inbox. Short-lived request limits help prevent spam.
Cloudflare Turnstile helps protect the form from bots and can process browser and connection information. Our server checks its verification token before sending a request to our inbox. We do not include your pet’s details, email address or message in that verification request. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Initial requests are open, but photo submissions are not open yet. The form does not accept photos or attachments, and you do not need to describe your pet’s appearance. Please wait for our email instructions before sending pictures.
Submitting the form does not create a pet, publish a profile or subscribe you to the newsletter. We review requests manually and discuss the next steps by email. The request page and its actions are excluded from Google Analytics, and no newsletter form is shown there.
Your shelter visit pack
The visit-pack builder keeps your selections and optional notes in the open page’s memory. Notes are not sent to our server, placed in the page address or saved in browser storage. Preparing a pack and using its Print pack or Download PDF buttons sends only the selected shelter IDs to our existing public-profile lookup and loads the current published checklist. We do not store this selection as a personal shortlist in our database. Unavailable profiles and their notes are left out of a refreshed pack.
Notes clear when you clear the pack, remove a selection, reload or leave the page. Printing and downloading include the notes in a copy you control. The PDF is made in your browser. Copies and an already-prepared on-screen pack are snapshots; contact each organization to confirm arrangements. The visit-pack page, its lookup requests and actions are excluded from Google Analytics and newsletter forms.
Shelter searches and saved shelters
Name, city, state, animal and service filters, along with optional ZIP and distance searches, run against our own directory and stored postal locations on Cloudflare. We do not send your search to RescueGroups, GeoNames, or shelter websites. The directory does not request your device’s precise location or require a visitor account. We do not save searches in the content database or send the search terms and filters to Google Analytics.
Your search appears in the page URL, so it may remain in your browser history and hosting logs. Shelter listings contain public organization information gathered from identified sources. We periodically check source pages independently of visitor searches. Contact us to correct or remove a listing.
Saved shelters stay in this browser, using shelter IDs and the time each was saved. Opening the list sends a bounded group of IDs to this website to retrieve current public profiles; saved times stay on your device, and no personal shortlist is stored in our database. Unavailable profiles can be removed from your list. This feature does not synchronize across devices. You can remove individual shelters or clear the list. Saved shelters, their lookup requests and save/remove actions are excluded from Google Analytics.
Comparison choices stay in the open saved-shelters page. Comparing or refreshing sends only up to three selected shelter IDs to the same current-public-profile lookup. We do not store comparison choices in the database, browser storage or page address, or send them to Google Analytics. Leaving or reloading clears those choices without removing your saved shelters. An on-screen comparison is a snapshot; refresh it or contact the organization to confirm current details.
Embedded videos and streams
Official YouTube, Instagram, and Twitch embeds connect to those platforms when they load. The platforms can receive technical information, use cookies or similar storage, and apply your existing account preferences under their own policies. Their embedded players and links are operated by those providers.
On an individual YouTube video page, the player loads with the page and waits for you to press Play. In video collections, the player loads when you open a video. Opening an individual page does not mark its video as watched; local progress starts with playback.
Read the privacy policies for Google and YouTube, Instagram, and Twitch.
Your watched videos
This browser remembers up to 500 YouTube videos you start, your playback position, video length and whether you finished, for up to 180 days. Progress and completion stay on your device and are not sent to Google Analytics or saved in our content database. Recently watched lets you browse this history and remove individual entries or clear the list. Mark unwatched for one video, Reset watch history in the video library, and your browser’s site-data controls also clear these records. They do not follow you to another browser or device. If storage is blocked, progress may last only for this visit.
Continue watching and Recently watched send small groups of video identifiers to our Cloudflare service in a request body to retrieve current public details. Playback positions, completion status and viewing times are not sent. The identifiers are not placed in the page address or saved as a personal collection. Videos that are no longer public are omitted from Continue watching; Recently watched shows a removable placeholder without their previous details. A brief start does not count as finished; older records that only recorded a start are kept as started. The Recently watched page, its filters, lookups and history controls are excluded from Google Analytics.
Video and article searches
Your search words and filters are sent to Cloudflare to find videos or Learn articles in our own content database. We do not save a personal search history or send these words to Google Analytics. Searches appear in the page address, so they can remain in your browser history and hosting logs.
Reporting a video problem
Report a problem sends the video identifier, the kind of problem and any details you choose to provide to our private review queue on Cloudflare. Reports and review notes are saved so we can investigate and track follow-up. They are not displayed publicly or sent to Google Analytics. We do not ask for your name or email, and reports do not automatically remove a video.
To help prevent spam, we use a short-lived request limit with a daily-changing hash of your connection address. We do not save that address or hash with your report. Hosting logs can still contain technical request information as described above. Please leave out personal information, passwords and private contact details. Contact us for a request about a report you submitted.
Following creators here
Follow here saves up to 100 creator identifiers and the time you followed them in this browser. It does not subscribe you on YouTube, create an account, send notifications or follow you across devices. Unfollow individual creators on Following, use its clear control, or clear this site’s browser data to remove these choices. If storage is blocked, choices may last only for the current visit.
The Following page sends creator identifiers and a page number to Cloudflare in a request body to retrieve currently public videos. Follow times and visit times stay on your device. We do not save your follows as a personal collection in D1 or send them to Google Analytics. Following and follow/unfollow actions are excluded from Analytics. New indicators mean newly added to this website since your previous visit, not necessarily a new upload or an unwatched video. Unavailable creators can remain removable in your list without displaying their old profile details.
My Favorites
Favorites are saved in this browser without an account. We keep up to 500 video or Instagram identifiers and their platforms, plus a separate list of up to 100 Learn article identifiers, with the time each item was saved. They remain until you remove them or clear this site’s browser data. Favorites do not sync to another browser or device. If storage is blocked, favorites may last only for the current visit.
When you browse My Favorites, the identifiers needed for the current page are sent to Cloudflare in a request body to retrieve up-to-date public videos or article summaries. Searching saved videos checks your saved video and Instagram identifiers in small batches, using their current public titles and creator names. Search words and save times stay on your device. Matching identifiers stay only in the open page; displayed results are checked against current public content again. Cancelling stops further batches. Searches do not include saved articles.
These identifiers and search words are not placed in the page address, saved as a personal collection in our content database, or sent to Google Analytics. The My Favorites page, searches and save/remove actions are excluded from Analytics. Unavailable items can remain removable in the unfiltered list without displaying an old saved copy.
New since your last visit
This browser remembers a small set of visit times to highlight newly added videos. A new visit begins after 30 minutes without activity; navigating between pages does not clear your new-video highlights. Visit memory expires after 180 days without a visit and does not follow you to another browser or device. Use Reset visit memory in the video library or your browser’s site-data controls to clear it.
When you open the new-video filter, the previous-visit cutoff is included in the page address and sent to Cloudflare to find and paginate eligible videos. That timestamp can appear in your browser history and hosting logs. We do not create a visitor record in the content database or send visit memory or the cutoff to Google Analytics. If browser storage is unavailable, visit memory may not persist.
Contacting us and other organizations
If you email us or submit the shelter request form, we receive your message and any name, reply email, or organization information you choose to include. Form messages are sent to our inbox through Cloudflare. They are used to review additions and corrections and to respond where appropriate; submitting a request does not publish it in the directory. Short-lived request limits help prevent spam. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information, private home addresses, or passwords.
Calls, emails, applications, and website visits to a shelter are handled directly by that organization and its services. External links, including optional Google Maps search links, take you to services with their own privacy policies. You can control cookies, storage, and browsing history through your browser settings.
