Contact before visiting
Confirm visiting arrangements and animal availability directly. Some rescues use foster homes, appointments, or a mailing address rather than a public shelter.
About this organization
Anti-Cruelty’s downtown adoption center is on LaSalle Drive in Chicago’s River North neighborhood. Its adoption program includes dogs, cats, rabbits and other small pets. Foster and volunteer programs support the organization, while clinic, admissions and resource services use separate entrances or locations.
How adoption works
After meeting a pet you hope to adopt, complete the questionnaire and speak with an adoption guide. Bring photo ID and proof of your current address if it is not shown on the ID. Be prepared to take an adopted pet home; the center does not provide post-adoption boarding or hold available animals.
Meeting the animals
You can visit the LaSalle Drive adoption center without an appointment during its current public hours. Check the animal’s listed location first, as Anti-Cruelty also places animals through foster homes and partner stores. Use the official location page to distinguish adoption visits from clinic or admissions services.
Services
Adoption, fostering and volunteering. The organization’s clinic and other support programs have separate arrangements; check the relevant official service page before visiting. Foster and volunteer applicants complete their own application and training steps.
