Contact before visiting
Confirm visiting arrangements and animal availability directly. Some rescues use foster homes, appointments, or a mailing address rather than a public shelter.
About this organization
DuPage County's public shelter provides adoption for dogs, cats, rabbits and other companion animals, alongside lost-pet services.
How adoption works
Apply online and wait for approval and a staff call to arrange a meeting, usually at the shelter; some animals may be introduced by video. Applications do not reserve an animal. Existing dogs and cats need rabies vaccination, and resident pets of the same species must be spayed or neutered.
Meeting the animals
Most adoption meetings require appointments. Limited cat walk-ins are available Monday, 2–4 pm, and Thursday, noon–2 pm, when space permits. Use the new Manchester Road entrance and main lobby. Approved applicants can call and press 0 to schedule.
