How adoption works
Visit and check in with staff. An advance adoption survey is optional. Staff arrange introductions and complete adoption paperwork; all household members must meet a prospective dog, and resident-pet introductions may be required.
Meeting the animals
During construction, enter from Saunders Road; the Riverwoods Road entrance is closed. The shelter's current parking map says it remains open. Confirm directions before travel. Open Wednesday–Friday, noon–4 pm, and Saturday–Sunday, noon–5 pm; closed Monday, Tuesday and national holidays. Check the animal's location, as the separate Hawthorn Mall adoption site is elsewhere.
