How adoption works
Adopters must be at least 18 with photo ID, proof of residence and written housing permission or ownership documentation. Staff need the adoption requirements before animal interactions. Resident dogs must meet a prospective dog, and children in the household must attend.
Meeting the animals
Manhattan welcomes walk-ins Tuesday–Sunday, 11 am–5 pm; Monday is closed. Shelter animals are considered first come, first served and are not held. Foster animals need a coordinated interview and meeting. Check the animal’s listed campus before visiting.
