Contact before visiting
Confirm visiting arrangements and animal availability directly. Some rescues use foster homes, appointments, or a mailing address rather than a public shelter.
About this organization
The Port Washington campus houses North Shore Animal League America’s dog and cat adoption centers.
How adoption works
Start with the online dog or cat adoption inquiry so counselors can discuss the next steps and a suitable match. Adopters must be at least 21, and every adoption requires approval.
Meeting the animals
The canine and feline adoption centers are open Wednesday–Sunday, 10 am–6 pm, and closed Monday and Tuesday. Animals cannot be held for a visit. Confirm the location of a listed cat because the website also includes a separate Adirondack center.
